Review of Georgia’s Picture Perfect Rooms Hotels

Gambar
We had no idea what the hotels in Georgia (the country) would be like.  A friend who’d been to Georgia told us about this fabulous hotel, Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, which pretty much left her speechless.  So of course, we had to stay there.  We were even more excited to learn that Rooms Hotel has a second property, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi.  We stayed at a total of five hotels in the country of Georgia and the two Rooms Hotels get our best reviews.   The Rooms Hotel brand is a Georgian brand.  The first was the Rooms Hotel Kazbegi.  Rooms Hotel Tbilisi opened more recently. We first stayed at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi.  Our first introduction to Rooms Hotel Tbilisi was after we had been traveling for over 24 hours and arrived in Tbilisi at 4:00 in the morning.  Even though we were exhausted, we were still aware enough to be thrilled with the room when we walked in. The walls are papered in dark wallpaper and the floors are dark wood...

5 Reasons to Travel to Georgia (the Country) in the Winter

Gambar
When we decided to travel to Georgia (the country), we hadn’t necessarily planned on traveling there in the winter.  However, when I searched Google Flights for a good time to visit with low airfares, amongst a sea of airfares over $1,100 there were some in the $800 range, roundtrip from LAX, in early March.  A $600 savings for the two of us seemed like a pretty good reason to travel to Georgia in the winter, but it turns out that isn’t the only reason why Georgia is a good winter destination.  Here are some other reasons to travel to Georgia in the winter.   Trek to Gergeti Trinity Church Our favorite winter activity was hiking to Gergeti Trinity Church, a church and monastery high up on a mountaintop near Mount Kazbegi.  While this is an epic activity at any time of the year, it just felt a little more so since we had to trudge up the mountain through snow, and the snow-covered Caucasus provided an impressive snowy backdrop. Exploring the Kakheti Province of Georgia (The Country)

Gambar
When we spent time in Georgia (the country), we were fortunate to be able to see many different regions of the country.  Our first trip out of Tbilisi was to Kakheti, the easternmost region of Georgia which is bordered by Russia and Azerbaijan.  The Kakheti province is probably most famous for its wine.  In addition to wine, Kakheti has churches, fortresses, and scenery.  Kakheti has always been an important region of Georgia.  Hundreds of years ago, when Georgia was occupied by the Persians, the Kakheti region was the richest region in Georgia, so the Persians would tax the harvest instead of destroying Kakheti, which is what they did to many other regions of Georgia.  That is until 1616, when the Georgians rebelled.  While Kakheti can be visited on a day trip from Tbilisi, there are a lot of things to do, so we suggest spending two days in Kakheti with an overnight stay.
